Exam Board/Format:
Warwickshire's 11 plus test in the West Midlands has two 60-minute papers covering English, Maths, Verbal reasoning, and Non-verbal reasoning. It's all multiple-choice, no writing. Maths and English questions check understanding of Key Stage 2 curriculum, testing reasoning. Reasoning questions assess logic and problem-solving, including spotting patterns.
Warwickshire utilizes the West Midlands 11 plus test, consisting of two papers, each lasting approximately 60 minutes. A few minutes are designated at the beginning of each paper for children to listen to instructions and complete some unmarked practice questions.
Both papers are subdivided into smaller, individually-timed sections that evaluate:
- English comprehension
- Maths
- Verbal reasoning
- Non-verbal reasoning
The test is exclusively in a multiple-choice format, with no writing sections. Children record their answers in a separate answer booklet, which is electronically marked.
The maths and English questions gauge your child's grasp of Key Stage 2 national curriculum content, including Year 6 objectives, assessing their ability to reason and apply knowledge accurately.
The reasoning questions evaluate your child’s logical and problem-solving abilities. Verbal and non-verbal reasoning, typically not taught in school, aim to measure how well children can identify patterns, connect, and manipulate written and visual information.
