Bishop Vesey’s Grammar School, commonly known as BVGS, stands as a prestigious and historically significant educational institution in Sutton Coldfield. Founded in 1527 by John Harman, a native of Sutton Coldfield and Bishop of Exeter during two periods, 1519-1551 and 1553-1554, the school has deep roots in advising King Henry VIII and serving as a confidant to Cardinal Wolsey.

Birmingham 11+ Exam consists of two GL papers comprising English Comprehension, Verbal Reasoning, Mathematics and Non-Verbal Reasoning.
The Birmingham 11 Plus exam is composed of two GL test papers, each lasting around 60 minutes. These papers consist of individually timed sections that encompass:
English Comprehension, which evaluates comprehension skills, including inference, without a writing component.
Verbal Reasoning, assessing logical thinking, proficiency in the English language, and vocabulary.
Mathematics, measuring problem-solving abilities and arithmetic skills, covering topics such as number, measurement, geometry, algebra, and statistics.
Non-Verbal + Spatial Reasoning, both testing logical reasoning and intelligence.
The exam is designed to comprehensively evaluate students' abilities in these key areas.

Parents can access the results of the 11 Plus online in October, while the final allocations of Year 7 places will be published in March of the subsequent year.
