Ilford County High School administers the GL Assessment 11+ exam, comprising two papers that evaluate the following subject areas:


1. English and Verbal Reasoning


The examination consists of a 55-minute paper that assesses English and  Verbal Reasoning skills. The English section, lasting 30 minutes,  incorporates a 5-minute practice test. The Verbal Reasoning section,  spanning 25 minutes, also includes a 5-minute practice test. All  questions in both sections are presented in a multiple-choice format.


2. Mathematics and Non-Verbal Reasoning (which includes Spatial Reasoning)


The examination comprises a 55-minute paper focusing on Maths and  Non-Verbal Reasoning. The Non-Verbal Reasoning segment, lasting 25  minutes, consists of 5 subtests. Following this, the Mathematics  section, lasting 30 minutes, incorporates a 5-minute practice segment.  All questions in both sections are presented in a multiple-choice  format.


These exams are in a multiple-choice format, and the results undergo comprehensive standardization and age-weighting to guarantee equitable assessment for all test takers.

The examination results were produced using the Centre Assessment Grading system.

Children scoring an aggregate score of 104 and above can apply for the above school.
