Year 4 and Year 5 winners!
We are delighted to share the results of our Winter Writing Contest, where students were invited to write on the theme:
“When Winter Changed Everything”
This year’s entries were truly impressive. Across both year groups, students demonstrated wonderful imagination, thoughtful storytelling, rich vocabulary, and a willingness to take creative risks. The judging process was incredibly enjoyable but also very challenging due to the high standard of submissions.
We are proud to celebrate the following winners and commendations.

Year 5 Results
🏆 Winners – Raed, Sia & Imina
The judging panel was impressed by the ambition, creativity, and depth shown in these outstanding entries, and we are delighted to recognise all three students as winners.

Raed wrote an epic fantasy adventure where winter became a powerful force connected to mythological worlds. The story followed siblings on a dangerous quest involving gods and magical realms, with high stakes and vivid imagery throughout.
Raed’s story also stood out for its confident use of mythology, weaving together different worlds to create a sense of scale and adventure. The tension between danger and determination kept readers engaged throughout, showing a strong ability to build suspense and maintain momentum.

Sia crafted a deeply atmospheric story about a town transformed by winter, using the season as a symbol of hardship followed by warmth and community spirit. The narrative explored themes of change, kindness, and hope.
Sia’s narrative beautifully captured the emotional journey of a community facing uncertainty, with winter acting as both a challenge and a catalyst for change. The story’s gentle pacing and reflective tone allowed the message of resilience and togetherness to shine through.

Imina created a powerful fantasy narrative in which winter took control of a family’s world, leading to a courageous journey and a difficult sacrifice. The story stood out for its emotional depth and imaginative plot.
Imina’s writing was particularly memorable for its emotional intensity and bold imagination, presenting winter as a powerful force that reshaped lives. The courageous choices made by the central character added depth to the story and created a moving, lasting impression.
🌟 Highly Commended – Raisa
Raisa shared a warm and heartfelt personal story about rediscovering the joy of snow and creating special memories with family. The vivid sensory details made the winter setting feel alive and meaningful.
